Alaskan Beer Week 2025
Beer is the favourite drink of Alaska. Try it for yourself!
Dates: January, 2025
Although Alaska is not Ireland and even not Germany, people here know how to make and drink beer! The best time to try local beverages is during the Alaskan Beer Week, which is held in Anchorage every year in January. Ten days of the festival, an endless stream of thick craft beer, noisy pubs, and great company—this is exactly what you'll find! Of course, during the festival, various events are held too. Visitors can take part in competitions, tastings, beer experiments, and many other activities. It seems that locals know how to make cold and dark winter days just a bit warmer!
Festival Program
During its many editions, this celebration of beer has managed to showcase the best of Alaska's breweries to the general public and bring in new crowds to the venues. Filled to the brim with joy, laughter, catchy music, and, of course, beer, the event is certainly something to behold. During the festival, each visitor traditionally receives a beer passport, which they can stamp at the event's locations and receive signature stickers. The beer selection is certainly rich, with local breweries offering their best spirits, beers, and other alcoholic drinks. The event usually comes to a grand finale with the Alaska Craft Brew & Barley Wine Festival.
Alaska Craft Brew & Barley Wine Festival (January 1–February 1, 2025)
Held by the Brewers Guild of Alaska and Peak 2 Peak Events, one of the biggest beer & wine festivals unfolds in the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage. The event spans three jam-packed sessions, filled with talks of barley wine experts, brewers and tastings of these delicious drinks. More than 65 breweries are taking part in the festival, showcasing more than 250 varieties of stouts, Belgian ales, pilsners, and other drinks. Attendees can enjoy a diverse menu of delicacies and purchase festival merchandise or souvenirs. Only people over 21 years old are allowed to enter the festival.
Location
The event traditionally takes place in Anchorage at various local breweries, restaurants, and pubs. Some of the events were previously held in Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, Rustic Goat, and Midnight Sun Brewing Co. Another edition of Alaskan Beer Week was also held in Fairbanks in 2023.
