Cubadisco 2024
A seven-day festival celebrating Cuban music
Dates: May 11–19, 2024
Cubadisco is an annual musical contest in Havana, one of the most important events in the Cuban music industry. Founded in 1997, it has become a showcase for the local culture.
Program
The festival's main idea is to promote Cuban music. Along with concerts held at multiple locations in Havana, there are expositions, CD launches, and conferences. Over 2,500 music titles and live shows take place altogether during the festival.
The Cubadisco Award
This year, the contest program encompasses various categories organized into distinct areas: Heritage, Academic, Jazz and Instrumental Music, Song, Fusion, Current Dance Music, Urban Music, Electronica and Electroacoustic, Audiovisuals, and Specialties.
Additionally, there will be an International award, a Collateral award, and an Audience Award. The International award recognizes phonograms by foreign authors and performers that authentically embody musical values and promote cultural diversity, aligning with Cubadisco's aesthetic principles.
Each year, hundreds of young and experienced musicians take their chances and compete for awards. The event also pays tributes to artists who contributed the most to the Cuban music scene.
