Romerias de Mayo in the city of Holguin is a perfect way to get the sense of local Christian celebration accompanied with crowds of people that paint their bodies into different colours, loads of music and endless fun. There is also a beautiful tradition of putting colourful ribbons around the trees, which makes it a remarkable experience of Cuban culture. The celebrations usually begin on May 3rd and last until May 8th.
