Electronic musicians, visual artists, and a variety of talented creators collaborate to bring the HORST Festival to life. It is a young event established only in 2014. They used to gather in Holsbeek, not far from Leuven, Flanders, in the ancient castle Kasteel van Horst. For 2019, the festival moved to a new location—ASIAT, a former military site in Vilvoorde, just half an hour drive north of Brussels. The main idea of the festival is to introduce contemporary Belgian artists to the public.
HORST consists of three main elements—a party that brings together fans of alternative electronic music, an exhibition of visual arts, and a series of inspiring talks. For three days, dozens of DJs entertain the visitors of the festival. It is the location that makes HORST special: the progressive and contemporary art and music are contrasted against the former military site. The setting creates a stunning atmosphere that attracts thousands of visitors.
