Lake Jackson is known for its vibrant festivities kicking off the holiday season. Every year, in mid-November, Lake Jackson holds the Festival of Lights and the Annual Parade of Lights. The tradition, which has been going strong in Brazoria County for over 30 years, attracts many visitors to Lake Jackson, wanting to kick off the holiday season early with vibrant light displays and a party atmosphere along the parade route.
Festival Program
On the day before the main festival, visitors of Lake Jackson can come to the Civic Center parking lot to experience the Yuletide Carnival, one of the most anticipated events of the holiday weekend. On November 22nd, come to the Civic Center to witness the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa Pajama Jam.
On November 23rd, downtown Lake Jackson is bustling with activity, starting with Breakfast with Santa at the Museum, arts & crafts fair, Santa's Workshop, and live entertainment at the Main Stage. Children will enjoy a thrilling day at the Wintertime Playground, filled to the brim with all sorts of winter attractions. The 21-foot (6 m) Grinch makes for a great photo backdrop.
Christmas Parade of Lights Route (November 23, 2024)
The annual Parade of Lights, which brings together local businesses, organizations, and music bands, is held in late November at 7 pm. The parade begins at the intersection of West Way and Circle Way, travels down Circle Way, and turns to Oak Drive. From there, the participants return to Circle Way and move further to the staging area in West Way, where they stop. The median of Circle Way is among the best spots to watch the Parade. Viewers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments.
Schedule
The Yuletide Carnival, which kicks off the festival, runs from 5 pm to 10 on Thursday, from 5 pm to 11 pm on Friday, from 11 am to 11 pm on Saturday, and from 3 pm to 10 pm on Sunday. Christmas tree lighting unfolds on November 22nd from 6 to 8 pm. On November 23rd, Breakfast with Santa spans from 8 am to 10 am, followed by the arts & crafts market, Wintertime playgrounds, and food court from 10 am until 5 pm.
Santa's Workshop is open from 11 am until 3 pm. Live performances on the Main Stage span from 10 am until 6 pm. Festivities continue downtown from 6 pm to 8 pm, culminating with the Parade of Lights at 7 pm. The parade is usually followed by Movie Night at the Civic Center.
