Vinton Christmas Parade 2024 in Virginia

The Annual Vinton Christmas Parade is a wonderful opportunity to welcome winter with a blast. Parade Details

The parade starts on Gus Nicks Blvd. at 5 pm, winds through town, and finishes on Washington Ave at the Vinton War Memorial. Usually, there are up to eight marching bands and 70-80 entries of civic groups and businesses. Schools, churches, civic and community organizations come together to create beautiful and imaginative floats that reflect the spirit of Christmas. Marching bands from nearby schools fill the air with festive music while dance troupes showcase their talent with holiday-themed performances. The event wouldn’t be complete without the special appearance of Santa Claus, who greets the crowd and spreads holiday cheer from his sleigh, marking the parade’s grand finale. After the parade, you can attend a Holiday Open House at the Vinton War Memorial with plenty of entertainment and family-friendly activities for you and your kids.

Tree Lighting

In addition to the parade, Vinton hosts its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony by the Town’s Christmas tree at the Municipal Building on Pollard St. Starting at 6 pm, this magical event that brings the community together for a night of celebration. Held in the town square, the tree lighting features live music, performances by local choirs, and plenty of opportunities for kids to meet Santa. The ceremony officially marks the beginning of the holiday season in Vinton, and the town's tree, sparkling with lights and ornaments, remains a festive centerpiece throughout December.
