Wintertime in the Great Smoky Mountains always seems like a fairy tale. Besides beautiful nature, Gatlinburg is famous for its outstanding Christmas celebrations. The holiday season kicks off in early December with the Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade. One of the most important annual events in Gatlinburg transforms the downtown and launches the long-awaited Winter Magic illumination.
The Parade route meanders through downtown Gatlinburg to the delight of spectators. Marching bands create a festive mood along with dozens of colorful floats decorated with unique LED lights and large balloons. Dancers and holiday characters amaze the cheering crowds.
The Christmas season in Gatlinburg is indeed magical and full of special events. The Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade, Great Smoky Christmas Arts & Crafts Show, and the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and fireworks show are some of the most exciting seasonal events in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
