Christmas on the River (or COTR for short) is an annual festival, bringing 40,000 attendees to Downtown Demopolis on the first Saturday in December. The festival is jam-packed with fascinating events and activities, including a Jingle Bell 5K, an Alabama State BBQ Championship, a Fair in the Square, a Day Parade, a Nautical Parade, various pageants, and fireworks. The festivities locate around N Walnut Ave & E Washington St and spread all over the city.
Since its 1972 inception, COTR has long become a premier holiday celebration in West-Central Alabama.
