São Silvestre de Lisboa 2024 in Lisbon

Every year since 2008 this race occupies the streets of Lisbon

Up to 10,000 runners gather to run the 10 km distance, which starts and finishes at Restauradores Square, located at the southeast end of Avenida da Liberdade—one of the central streets of Lisbon. Hence, the race is not only a good option for improving your health but also an alternative way to check out the beauty of the city.

Event Highlights

For about two hours, the center of the city is occupied, but the runners are expected to finish the distance in 120 minutes, as after this time, traffic resumes. The start will be divided into several waves to ensure that all participants can enjoy the run. The size of the waves will depend on the number of participants per group. The athletes will not all start at the same time but rather in waves.

Route

The route begins at Restauradores Square, passing through key areas such as D. Pedro IV Square (Rossio), Ouro Street, Cais do Sodré, and 24 de Julho Avenue. It continues past notable spots like Av. Ribeira das Naus and Comércio Square before looping back through Liberdade Avenue, with a turnaround at Marquês de Pombal Square and finishing at Restauradores Square.

Children’s Race

There is a separate race for children, which takes place a bit earlier than the race for adults—São Silvestre da Pequenada. Depending on the age category, kids run 300, 500, 700, and 1000 meters: the younger are kids, the shorter the distance they run. When the race is over, each child receives a diploma and a medal, as no winner is awarded. For adults, all participants who cross the finish line will be awarded a medal, among other gifts. Trophies will be awarded to the first three female and male finishers at the São Silvestre de Lisboa (only the general classification will be taken into account).

Dates & Participation Fees

In 2024, São Silvestre de Lisboa once again will give a special shine to the streets of Lisbon on December 28. The run starts at 9:30 pm. São Silvestre for children will take place on December 14 in Monsanto. The registration fee for kids is €5. For adults prices vary according to dates of registrations and start from €15.
