The Maryland Seafood Festival is held every September at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Maryland. A favourite local tradition since 1966 attracts over 20,000 people from all over East Coast as well as Maryland’s top restaurateurs and chefs. The festival features live music, food contests, and cooking demonstrations.
The Capital Crab Soup Cook-off is one of the main attractions of the festival. But in addition to great food, there are exhibits, arts and crafts fair, and outdoors activities such as beach soccer and paddle-boarding. An interactive kid zone also has plenty of things to occupy themselves with.
Other highlights of the festival include a crab cake eating competition, a crab picking competition, and an oyster shucking contest. Beer and Oyster Tasting tent feature over 25 kinds of beer and fresh local oysters.
