White River West Sno-Park in Portland 2024-2025
Spectacular views of Mount Hood and lots of snow activities
Best time: December–March
The White River West Sno-Park is located about 1.5-hours away (by car) from Portland on Oregon Highway 35. The area is a popular winter destination for snowshoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing with stunning backdrop views of Mount Hood and the White River Canyon. The great thing about this place is that it is wide open, even when you get to the forest. So snowshoers can find their own routes along a ridge line and the White River.
The White River West Sno-Park offers many routes for skiers of all levels. The easiest is a 1 mile (1.6 km) round-trip route that goes up the White River Canyon. The canyon is also popular for sledding. Other longer scenic routes lie past the power lines and along the ridge line. Some trails will take you through the woods, but it's almost impossible to get lost. White River Canyon is a great place for beginner skiers and snowshoers.
The trails are in best condition during the snowy season, which lasts from December to March.
