A cozy coastal city located nearly 100 miles (160 km) away from LA boasts quite a vibrant nightlife that escalates on New Year's Eve. Despite the variety of party options popping up yearly, the most famous one must be Brew Year's Eve, called the best NYE bash on the Central Coast. The fabulous celebration occurs in the very heart of Santa Barbara—at the Veteran's Memorial Building on Cabrillo Boulevard, just next to the ocean.
The tickets to the most popular party are being sold out fast. But there are plenty of other fantastic events to close out the year. Alternatively, check out a popular hot spot at The Bacara resort, which annually hosts elaborate theme parties. Or you can go to SOhO on State Street and enjoy live performances by some hipster bands.
For a quieter NYE, downtown Santa Barbara has a number of upscale restaurants and cocktail bars, where you can reserve a table and indulge in a special NYE dinner. The Lark has won the hearts of many, yet there are dozens of good places to discover. Another romantic way to ring in the new year is a trip by Celebration Cruises departing from Stearn's Wharf.
If you're looking for something special to spend the night with your family, attend a NYE concert at The Granada Theatre. The youngest will enjoy a visit to the Santa Barbara Zoo, which is normally open on December 31 and sometimes even schedules special festivities.
Whatever are your preferences of how to spend NYE, Santa Barbara offers something for everyone. Just plan your getaway carefully—book accommodations, buy tickets, and make all reservations in advance.
