Holiday Lighting Event on the Santa Fe Plaza (November 29, 2024)

On the day after Thanksgiving, the historic Santa Fe Plaza turns into an epicenter of dazzling Christmas lights. Around 4:30 pm, people gather to watch the appearance of Santa and Mrs. Claus while enjoying delicacies the Girl Scout Choir and Girl Scouts are selling. The Christmas tree lighting tradition starts at 6 pm, and magical farolitos (“little lanterns”) shine bright every night through New Year’s Day.

The Canyon Road Farolito Walk (December 24, 2024)

The Canyon Road Farolito Walk in Santa Fe is a cherished Christmas Eve tradition where thousands stroll the historic street adorned with glowing farolitos—paper lanterns made of sand, and candles. This magical evening features piñon bonfires, traditional holiday music, and treats like hot chocolate and biscochitos. Many galleries and shops remain open, making it a festive family-friendly event that captures the unique spirit of Santa Fe.

La Luz de las Noches (December 19-31, 2024)

Another annual Christmas lights show in Santa Fe takes place at Santa Fe Botanical Garden on the western edge of Museum Hill. Thousands of dazzling lights convert the Botanical Garden into a memorable holiday celebration. Twinkling holiday lights will lead you to live musical performances each night and sweet and savory holiday treats available throughout the Garden. The display is on from 4:30 to 7:30 pm nightly.
