West Virginia's Greatest Air Show is a popular aviation event held at Eastern WV Regional Airport (Shepherd Field) in Martinsburg. Airshows on a historical airfield have been on hiatus since 2012. However, the new West Virginia's Greatest Air Show is expected to attract significant crowds to Berkeley County,
The program of West Virginia’s Greatest Air Show includes a diverse list of military and civilian performers, like US Army Golden Knights, USAF C-17 Globemaster III Demo/Flybys, Jerry Conley [DH-115 Vampire], USCG MH-65 Dolphin Search and Rescue Demo, B-25 Mitchell "Panchito," Skip Stewart [Pitts S2S], Scott "Scooter" Yoak [P-51 Mustang "Quicksilver"], BT-13 Valiant (Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force), Mark Meredith [Super Chipmunk], DC-3 “Yukon Sourdough,” PT-17 Stearman (Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force), TBM Avenger (Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force), and T-6 Texan (Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force).
The airfield is adjacent to the Shepherd Field Air National Guard Base., home of West Virginia Air National Guard's 167th Airlift Wing (167 AW) since 1955. The air show, organized by MRB Foundation, is held on the civilian part of the airport, used for general aviation. The event is aimed at promoting education, and aviation as well as providing plenty of fun activities for the whole community.
