The comic con tradition has arrived in Japan with the growing popularity of Marvel superheroes, such as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and X-Men. Tokyo Comic Con Board includes Marvel's producer Stan Lee and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as honorary ambassadors.

The annual gathering near Tokyo, attracting about seventy thousand people, is focused on technology and cosplay, both of which have always been popular in Japan. Fans also have a chance to meet graphic artists, illustrators, actors, and directors. Past guests of Comic Con Japan included Keifer Sutherland, Millie Bobby Brown, Christina Ricci, Michael J. Fox, Elijah Wood, Ezra Miller, Jeremy Renner, Peter Weller, Zachary Levi, Daniel Logan, Rupert Grint, Orlando Bloom, Mark Ruffalo, Jude Law, Chris Hemsworth, and the Phelps Brothers.

Photography, signing, and panels, allowing close interaction with celebrities, are among the main highlights of Tokyo Comic Con. Cosplay is also a big part of the gathering. Thousands of participants take great pride in channeling their favorite characters at the Cosplay Contest and expressing themselves on stage.
