Llamas in Bolivia 2024
Meeting llamas on an island set amidst the salt flat is no problem, the tricky part is getting there
Best time: May–November
The pretty, furry inhabitants of Isla de Pescado can be found there year-round, but getting to the island set in the middle of world's largest salt flat might be truly challenging, if not impossible if you set off through Salina de Uyuni during the wet season. To observe the cute harmless creatures one has to wait until the salt flats have drained enough so as to be passable. Thus, the best season for llama watching is May to November, the dry Bolivian winter.
