Fourth of July is celebrated with much Southern charm and on a large scale in Georgia. There are a massive run and celebration in Atlanta, many unique events like historical reenactments in historic Savannah, cozy coastal celebrations in Tybee Island and Golden Isles.

4th of July Events in Atlanta (unconfirmed for 2020)

Atlanta draws many visitors on the 4th of July due to various festive events, barbecues and fireworks. Downtown Atlanta hosts the most famous fireworks display which follows the festivities at Centennial Olympic Park and SunTrust Park. There is also a kids-friendly festival with performances and food trucks in the Historic Fourth Ward Park.

AJC Peachtree Road Race (postponed to Thanksgiving, November, 2020)

The last, but not least, 60,000 participants run for America in the Peachtree Road Race, the largest road race in the country watched by 150,000 cheering spectators.

4th of July Celebration in Marietta (canceled for 2020)

Historic Marietta has a famous Independence Day celebration due to its large parade that features more than 2,000 participants. It is followed by a celebration on Marietta Square and Fourth in the Park Festival, which includes a free concert, arts and crafts fair, carnival, and fireworks.

Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park (July 1-7, 2020)

Stone Mountain attracts many visitors with its beautiful woodlands and family-friendly attractions. The four-day Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park can be the highlight of your Georgia vacation. High Swiss cable car rides, excellent food, and fireworks with laser show make this celebration unforgettable.

4th of July 2020 Celebration in Buford (unconfirmed)

Buford hosts a large Fourth of July party at the Mall of Georgia. Its main attraction is the Village Kids Zone, featuring Captain America, Wonder Woman, and other superheroes. Rock climbing walls, bounce houses, and various games will keep kids happy, while adults can enjoy live music, food, and evening fireworks.

East Point Independence Day Celebration (canceled for 2020)

East Point has a festive Fourth celebration that starts with the Salute to the Red, White and Blue festival in downtown that features carnival rides for the whole family and the fantastic fireworks show at night. There is also lots of live music: funk, soul, and R&B bands play relaxing tunes for the hot Southern summer.

Athens Star Spangled Classic (July 3, 2020)

Athens, GA, celebrates with unlimited music, Southern food, and firework shows in Downtown and at Southern Brewing Company. The Star Spangled Classic Fireworks Celebration starts on June 30th at around 5 p.m. with live music, food trucks and children's fun on Washington Street and College Avenue. Dazzling fireworks are launched with patriotic music at 9:30 pm from Athens Ben Epps Airport.

Augusta is a great vacation destination at any time. But it's exceptionally hospitable and festive during Independence Day celebrations with tons of comfort food, patriotic music and decorations, and fireworks. There are hot air balloon rides and concerts for visitors to enjoy, as well as Fort Gordon Fireworks (postponed to October 2, 2020).

Savannah Independence Day celebrations are unlike any other due to its historic heritage. Don't miss the annual British Occupation of Savannah reenactment taking place at the Wormsloe Historic Site, which depicts the city's life under the British empire. Visitors can even try to fire a cannon and practice artillery drills. In addition to that Savannah has an impressive parade at Magnolia Park and beautiful fireworks over the riverfront downtown.

Tybee Island draws people with its beautiful beaches and recreational opportunities. During the Fourth, there is also plenty of entertainment to enjoy during the whole week before the holiday: movie screenings, live concerts, and the Market at the Lighthouse. On July 4th, everyone gathers on the shore to see Tybee Island’s Fireworks display.

Golden Isles 4th of July Celebrations

Golden Isles are among the best places to celebrate Independence Day in Georgia due to the relaxed vacation atmosphere and plenty of fun events.

St. Simons Island 4th of July (canceled for 2020)

St. Simons Island 4th of July Sunshine Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pier Village for over 60 years. It includes a 5K run, arts & crafts fair, and fireworks.

Brunswick 4th of July 2020 (postponed to Labor Day weekend, September 6, 2020)

The nearby city of Brunswick has an Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration in historic downtown with games, plenty of watermelons, and a pyrotechnic show at Mary Ross Waterfront Park over East River and Oglethorpe Bay.

Jekyll Island 4th of July (canceled for 2020)

Jekyll Island Independence Day Celebration features an old-fashioned parade through the Historic District with bikes, golf carts, strollers, pets, and locals themselves.

Sea Island 4th of July Celebration with family fun and Fireworks Spectacular at The Cloister and Beach Club.
