Fourth of July is celebrated with much Southern charm and on a large scale in Georgia. There are a massive run and celebration in Atlanta, many unique events like historical reenactments in historic Savannah, cozy coastal celebrations in Tybee Island and Golden Isles.
AJC Peachtree Road Race (July 4, 2024)
One of the most awaited events in the entire Georgia. At least 60,000 participants run for America in the Peachtree Road Race, the largest road race in the country watched by 150,000 cheering spectators. Definitely a must-see for you and your loved ones! You can enter as a participant for only $45.
4th of July Celebration in Marietta (July 4, 2024)
Historic Marietta has a famous Independence Day celebration due to its large parade that features more than 2,000 participants. It is followed by a celebration on Marietta Square and Fourth in the Park Festival, which includes a free concert, arts and crafts fair, carnival, and fireworks. At 2 pm, there is also a magnificent bell ringing ceremony, followed by a concert at 7 pm.
Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park (July 1–7, 2024)
Stone Mountain attracts many visitors with its beautiful woodlands and family-friendly attractions. The four-day Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park can be the highlight of your Georgia vacation. High Swiss cable car rides, excellent food, and fireworks with laser show make this celebration unforgettable. The event doors are open from 10:30 am till 9 pm, with the fireworks display scheduled at 9:30 pm.
Athens Star Spangled Classic (June 29, 2024)
Athens, GA, celebrates with unlimited music, Southern food, and firework shows in Downtown and at Southern Brewing Company. The Star Spangled Classic Fireworks Celebration starts on June 30th at around 5 p.m. with live music, food trucks and children's fun on Washington Street and College Avenue. Dazzling fireworks are launched with patriotic music at 9:30 pm from Athens Ben Epps Airport.
4th of July Celebration in Augusta (July 4, 2024)
Augusta is a great vacation destination at any time. But it's exceptionally hospitable and festive during Independence Day celebrations with tons of comfort food, patriotic music and decorations, and fireworks. The celebration kicks off at 5:00 pm with live music, food trucks, vendors, a kid's zone, and much more. The fireworks show starts at 9:15 pm, launching from the top levee of the Augusta Riverwalk, directly across from the Augusta Common.
Savannah Independence Day Celebrations (July 6–7, 2024)
Savannah Independence Day celebrations are unlike any other due to its historic heritage. Don't miss the annual British Occupation of Savannah reenactment taking place at the Wormsloe Historic Site, which depicts the city's life under the British empire. Visitors can even try to fire a cannon and practice artillery drills. In addition to that Savannah has an impressive parade at Magnolia Park and beautiful fireworks over the riverfront downtown.
Tybee Island 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)
Tybee Island draws people with its beautiful beaches and recreational opportunities. During the Fourth, there is also plenty of entertainment to enjoy during the whole week before the holiday: movie screenings, live concerts, and the Market at the Lighthouse. On July 4th, everyone gathers on the shore to see Tybee Island’s Fireworks display.
Golden Isles 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)

St. Simons Island 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)
The Annual St. Simons Island Sunshine Festival held in Pier Village has been an island tradition for over 60 years. Featuring St. Simons Island fireworks, a 5K and 1-mile fun run, and more, this event is perfect for families. Festival hours are from 10 am to 5 pm, with fireworks beginning at sundown on July 4th, around 9 pm.
Brunswick 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)
Brunswick's Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration, held at Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of Historic Downtown Brunswick, includes free games, watermelon, food trucks, live music, and fireworks. The festivities begin on Monday, July 4th at 4 pm with a parade starting from the Mansfield Parking lot, moving down Newcastle Street to Mary Ross Waterfront Park. The annual pet parade begins at 5:30 pm, followed by a play performance from The Penguin Project at 6 pm. Live music from the local band Squirt Gun will also be featured, with fireworks over the East River and Oglethorpe Bay kicking off at dark, around 9 pm, and lasting 30 minutes.
Jekyll Island 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)
On Jekyll Island, whether spending the day at the beach, by the pool, or at Summer Waves Water Park, there are plenty of ways to stay cool and enjoy July 4th. Fireworks will take place on the evening of July 4th. After sunset, at 8:45 pm (depending on lighting and weather conditions), witness the most spectacular fireworks in the Golden Isles. Arrive early to secure your spot in the sand, with the best views from Great Dunes Beach Park and Oceanview Beach Park.
Sea Island 4th of July Celebrations (July 4, 2024)
At Sea Island, The Cloister and Beach Club have many activities scheduled each year during the 4th of July weekend. July 4th usually begins with a flag-raising ceremony and ends with a day of family fun and celebration, culminating in a Fireworks Spectacular at the Beach Club around 9 pm.
