Plain City Independence Day Celebration (July 4, 2024)

The annual 4th of July Celebration takes place in the local Pastime Park from 11 am to 9:45 pm after the fireworks display. The community event features a star-spangled parade, a farmer's market, live music, concessions, and fireworks. Be prepared for a day filled to the brim with entertainment!

Activities

The community festivities normally feature performances of local musicians, food vendors, mechanical bull and traditional games for all ages. Children will have an opportunity to jump up and down on the bounce houses and get their faces painted. Adults can hop on a mechanical bull and imagine themselves a rodeo cowboy. Another highlight of the entertainment program is the Farmer's Market, which normally operates near Bicentennial Park from 9 am until noon.

Plain City 4th of July Parade

The 4th of July Parade in Plain City lines up at 9 am and sets off at 10 am from the south entrance to the park down the Chillicothe Street, turns right at Main Street and returns to the south entrance. Parade registration is required to participate. You'll have a chance to wave a star-spangled flag, cheer on the procession and witness many examples of creativity in the form of amazing floats.

What better finale to the Independence Day celebration could there be than witnessing a splash of vibrant colors against a dark canopy of the sky? If you venture 19 miles northeast of Plain City, you'll have a chance to be a part of another Independence Day celebration, this time in Delaware. The city's administration hosts annual 4th of July festivities, which include a parade, symphonic concert, and a fireworks display.

Delaware 4th of July Parade

The annual 4th of July parade in Delaware is a long-standing tradition among the residents. The red, blue, and white procession with patriotic floats usually sets off at 11 am from Liberty Street gate at Pennsylvania Avenue through Delaware's downtown and to Henry Street.

Central Ohio Symphony Concert

Another long-established custom honored by Delaware's citizens is the annual outdoor symphonic concert at the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The repertoire usually consists of legendary patriotic compositions, like "Star-Spangled Banner," "Armed Forces Salute," and "Stars and Stripes Forever." The concert normally begins at 7:30 pm, and the ticket cost ranges from $4 for children under 6 to $30 for adults.

Fireworks Display at Cherry Street

After a long day of fun and festivities, stop by Cherry Street by Olentangy River, which is just a mile (1.6 km) away from the Ohio Wesleyan University campus. The fireworks are usually set off from there at 10 pm, but can be visible from other places in the city. Bring your family and enjoy a magnificent pyrotechnic display under the stars.
