The Oregon International Air Show, one of the largest aviation events in the United States, has expanded its reach by adding a new location at the McMinnville Municipal Airport, situated 3 miles (5 km) southeast of McMinnville, Oregon. In conjunction with the Hillsboro Airport show, this aviation event attracts a combined audience of over 110,000 people. With its new venue and the continued success of its established show, the Oregon International Air Show offers aviation enthusiasts an unparalleled experience filled with excitement and awe-inspiring displays.
Schedule of Events
The gates for the air show open promptly at 9 am and close at 5 pm, providing attendees with ample time to enjoy the event. The show is scheduled to start approximately at 12 pm, but spectators should be aware that delays are likely on air show days.
Lineup of Performers
At the air show, the United States Air Force Thunderbirds take the spotlight as the main headliners. This event serves as a fundraiser, benefiting non-profit organizations and charities in Washington and Oregon. Among the other performers are the US Navy Growler Airshow Team, along with a lineup of impressive aircraft, including the P-47 Thunderbolt, Focke-Wulf 190, and Messerschmitt (ME-109) from Erickson Aircraft. Piloted by Vicky Benzing, the iconic P-51 Mustang, "Plum Crazy," will grace the skies alongside Yellow Thunder, featuring two Harvards and Sukhoi West, showcasing two Sukhoi SU-26s.
Displays
The Oregon International Air Show at McMinnville will offer an array of Ground Displays for attendees to enjoy. On the ground, spectators can marvel at exhibits including Robosaurus, F-86 Sabre, F-15 Eagle, MiG-17, MiG-21, F-104G, A-26 Invader, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, T-1A Jayhawk, HC-130 Hercules, and many more captivating displays. With such a diverse lineup, there will be something for everyone to enjoy and explore at this exciting event.
Tickets
1-day general admission for adults (ages 12 and up) ranges from $33 to $43, while admission for children (ages 5-11) costs between $13 and $18. Military tickets are priced from $23 to $33. Parking in the Blue Lot is free.
History of Oregon International Air Show
Oregon Air Show has been held since 1988, when it was founded by a former Navy pilot, Jim Osborne, as part of the Portland Rose Festival. Over the years, Oregon International Air Show also featured the Blue Angels, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, the Patriots Jet Team, RCAF Snowbirds, the Breitling Jet Team, RAF Red Arrows, the USSOCOM Paracommandos, Patty Wagstaff, Sean D. Tucker, Oregon National Guard's F-15 Eagles, Renny Price, Mike Wiskus, Heritage Flights, and many more.
