UBC Apple Festival 2024 in Vancouver

Tens of thousands of kilos of the best fresh apples of dozens of different varieties await everyone at the annual UBC Apple Festival. Thousands of hungry attendees come to the Botanical Garden every year to taste some of the best locally-grown apples. This is also a good chance to learn about the diversity and some unique varieties of this fruit or even buy an apple tree for your own garden. You can also watch cider demonstrations and try delicious apple pies. Check out the craft markets, kids' zone, live entertainment, and various shows on both the Great Lawn Main Stage and the West Entrance Small Stage. And don't forget to have a pleasant walk through the garden. This is a family event loved by people of all ages!
Activities & Displays
UBC Apple Festival boasts an array of activities in the Children’s Area. The little ones can learn about biodiversity, the environment, pollinators like bees, and more. The Leaf Pile has always been a favorite for local kids!
In addition, the festival boasts the Best Apple Display in Canada. The public can see nearly 200 apple varieties grown in British Columbia and try some as well. Tasting sessions will be available on Saturday and Sunday. Attendees can bring apples from their own gardens and have experts identify them. Master Gardeners are also available to discuss apple tree-related diseases and pest management.
Apples for Sale
Bagged apples for sale include conventional apple varieties, heritage, and “tried and true.” Overall, more than 40 varieties of apple trees and crab apples are available for sale. The public can also purchase pears and quince. The Shop in the Garden offers plenty of apple-related merchandise, books, tools, and gifts. While the Garden Centre offers fruit and ornamental trees to plant in your garden.
Tickets and Hours
The festival runs from 11 am to 4 pm on both days. Festival admission tickets were $9 in the past years. Children aged seven and under get in for free. Tickets go on sale in mid-September, with early bird pricing in effect through early October.
