The annual events include the Liberty 5K Run and Walk, a parade, and other outdoor festivities at Denton Civic Center and Quakertown Park.
Denton Yankee Doodle Parade
Yankee Doodle Parade is the main highlight of the Independence Day celebration in Denton. The procession kicks off from Downtown Denton Square at 9 am, with hundreds of participants, dressed in red, white, and blue. The route starts near the Wells Fargo Bank at Austin & Hickory St., goes around the square, down McKinney St., and finishes at the Denton Civic Center.
More fun awaits at the afternoon Fourth of July Jubilee at Downtown Denton Square, running from 6 to 10:30 pm. Plenty of free, family-friendly activities are planned: games, inflatables, rock climbing, face painting, a hot dog eating contest, and lots of tasty snacks from local vendors. The night culminates with a dazzling drone show.
Liberty 5 K Run & Walk
Liberty 5 K Run & Walk is an annual race that starts at 7:30 a.m. at Denton Civic Center. With over 20 years of history, this tradition is a great way for the community to start celebrating the 4th of July in an active way. Participants can choose between a 5k running distance or a 1-mile walk. Everyone will get a race t-shirt and a race bag.
