If you are a big fan of fishing, the Great Barrier Reef is an ideal place for your holidays. With more than 1,500 fish species, which represent around 10% known species of fish in the world, and Australia's most scenic views the spot is a haven for avid fishers from around the globe. Among the most widely spread species are red-throat emperor, and several species of snapper and coral trout. There are also 17 species of sea snake that love the warn waters of Southern territories. Some of the fish is of enormous sizes, so, if you're lucky you can take a picture with the biggest fish you've ever caught! However, don't forget to check Australia's fishing regulations so as not to get into trouble.

There are several fishing spots in the Great Barrier Reef region, including Cairns, Cassowary Coast, Port Douglas, and Atherton Tablelands.
