Gaula River ensures the best salmon fishing experience in Europe

Gaula River boasts one of the longest salmon runs in Norway and is claimed to be the best Atlantic salmon fishing river in Europe. During the fishing season that stretches from the 1st of June till the 31st of August anglers are allowed to catch salmon at any point along the 85 km long river, that flows from Oysanden and runs through mountainous areas, canyons, forests, and agricultural lands near the Trondheim fjord towards the Eggafoss waterfall. The large fishing area is divided into 9 pools. Not to exhaust the river, fishing hours are limited to 16 hours per day. It's illegal to fish between 2 and 6 am as well as from 2 to 6 pm.
