Dorado Shoot Out Featured in
The annual Dorado Shoot Out takes place in July at the Van Wormer Resorts in Los Barriles and is the largest tournament in Southern Baja. Nearly 130 teams compete in catching the heaviest dorado. Despite a small contribution of $500 from the team, the rewards can reach $126,000. The winner takes an imposing prize, usually a truck or a car. Besides, smaller payouts range from $200 to $1,000. Even amateur anglers can try their luck.
Dorado Shoot Out has been held since 2005. In addition, Baja California's peninsula hosts multiple other fishing competitions. All because the waters around are teeming with marlin, tuna, and other species of fish.
