The marching kicks off at 95th Street and 49th Avenue, moving towards 55th Court. The parade won’t begin until 4 pm, and participation is free of charge.

Everyone willing to join the activity is welcome to come and witness a spectacular display of patriotic floats and star-spangled costumes. The post-parade events usually take place on the Village Green at 6 pm feature jazzy and eye-catching performances from local artists.

Richards High School Fireworks (July 4, 2024)

A magnificent firework show is a crucial part of Independence Day celebrations in Oak Lawn. The display usually takes place at dusk after sunset in Richards High School on Central Avenue. The show is an amazing opportunity to watch spectacular lights in the company of your loved ones. If you're an alumnus, it's a great opportunity to visit your alma mater and experience the high school spirit all over again. Palos Heights Independence Day Celebration (July 3, 2024)

Just a mere 5 miles (8 km) from Oak Lawn, if you venture southwest into Chicago suburbs, you'll find Palos Heights, a cozy city with a lot to offer. Independence Day festivities in the city usually begin early on the 3rd of July at 10 am and last until 1 pm at the Community Park. Some of the beloved activities include bounce houses and traditional yard games. To enjoy all of that and even more, you need to buy a $20 wristband.

The outdoor bash then normally continues at the Memorial Park from 5 pm until 9:15 pm. After a relaxing morning of family-friendly fun, you can grab a bite of local snacks and treat yourself to a delicious beer from regional breweries. The stage at the venue won't stay empty for long—musicians from the Chicago area normally perform and entertain the audience with their legendary hits.

The culmination of the event is definitely the fireworks display, which begins at 9:15 pm and will light up the sky above the Memorial Park. Grab a blanket, lay back, and take in the magnificent sight of this pyrotechnic spectacle.

Palos Heights Independence Day Parade (July 4, 2024)

Earlier in the day, normally at noon, residents of Palos Heights also organize a 4th of July parade, which promises to be a load of patriotic fun. The procession sets off from Harlem Avenue and continues to 119th Place. If you'd like to be among the hundreds of spectators, stop by the parade route and cheer the participants on.
