Star apple is sweet, sometimes starchy fruit with smooth green or purple-black skin. They are not that easy to pick as they don't fall from the tree right into your hands. Star apple tree is quite large with leaves coloured green and shiny brown.
The skin and rind of the star apple are inedible. The chilled, ripe fruit is usually cut in half, and its pulp is eaten by a spoon. If you combine chopped star apple meat with pineapple, mango, citrus, coconut water, and freeze this mix, you'll have yourself the most delicious fruit salad ice.
