The Symphony of Lights is Howard County's favourite holiday tradition for over 25 years. Located in historic Merriweather Post Pavilion in downtown Columbia, the impressive light display consists of over 300,000 lights. This spectacular show features larger-than-life animated and stationary holiday installations. The illuminated winding path can be experienced as a drive-through in the comfort of your vehicle or as a fun walk on special nights with friends and family. The drive-through experience lasts for about 20 minutes.

The Symphony of Lights festival at the iconic Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia attracts over 100,000 visitors each winter. There are a laser light show and 3D holiday video in the Pavillion. Visitors can get a hot cup of cocoa or holiday-themed snacks at one of the food trucks available on walk-through nights.

The festival kicks off with Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. Special activities at Merriweather Post Pavillion include photos with Santa Claus, a holiday photo booth, face painting, meet and greet with Medieval Times. A unique program and early fireworks are offered on New Year's Eve, surrounded by the twinkling lights. On designated Tail Night, dog enthusiasts can enjoy dazzling lights along with their beloved pets. A portion of proceeds benefits the Howard County General Hospital and DCACC.
