Reno Jazz Festival 2024 in Nevada
A celebration of jazz with a long history at the University of Nevada
Dates: April 25–27, 2024
Reno Jazz Festival is an annual artistic gathering at the University of Nevada, which includes professional jazz musicians, instructors, and student performers. Every April, thousands of emerging musicians from schools, colleges, and universities throughout the American West participate in educational clinics chaired by industry professionals.
Held since 1962, Reno Jazz Festival has become a vibrant forum for ideas, creativity, and skills, which inspires young musicians. Every edition of the festival features headliners, picked among top professionals in the field. Past lineups of the festival included such legends as Ray Brown, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, Lee Konitz, Melissa Aldana, Michael Brecker, Jon Hendricks, Dave Holland, Maria Schneider, Bobby Hutcherson, Charlie Haden, and Ravi Coltrane.
Reno Jazz Festival features over 300 school groups and about 9,000 participants, including professional musicians and music educators taking part in a series of concerts, workshops, and clinics. Reno Jazz Festival has been praised by San Francisco Chronicle for “showcasing music’s future.”
