Balloons over Bend is an annual hot air balloon festival taking place in Bend, Oregon, every July. The beautiful area on the Deschutes River is famous for its lakes and Cascade Mountains peaks, with numerous hiking trails and ski resorts. Balloons over Bend offers three days of balloon launches and family-friendly activities. The festival features night glows, live music, a marketplace, and much more.
Mass ascensions occur at sunrise, between 6 and 7 am, depending on the weather. The launch site is located near R.E. Jewell Elementary School. Don’t miss your chance to see colorful hot air balloons over the Central Oregon sky! In the evenings, the festival features the Night Glow with music and food. Thousands gather to see spectacular tethered balloons glowing in the dark in Sam Johnson Park in Redmond.
Other highlights of Balloons over Bend include the Balloon Blast race. It combines obstacles with a colorful course, suitable for kids, ages 3-10. In addition, entertainment includes live music, food trucks, and vendors at the marketplace. Shoppers can find fun gifts and meet local makers. Balloon take-offs are free to attend, however, tickets are needed for the Balloon Blast Race and the Night Glow.
