The City of Duncanville in southwest Dallas County is known as a suburban haven with its unique mash-up of urban landscapes and scenic sights. Nicknamed as the City of Champions because of its high-achieving athletes, Duncanville also prides itself in its joyful Independence Day Celebration. Another spot to visit in the Dallas area is Plano, which also holds a spectacular 4th of July bash.
Duncanville Independence Day Parade (July 4, 2024)
Independence Day Parade at 9 am is one of the highlights of the celebration. Red, white and blue will envelop the streets of Duncanville and bring joy to everyone watching. Organized by the Duncanville Lion’s Club, the parade starts on Wheatland Road at Freeman Street, then heads west, turns right on North Main Street, then ends at North Main Street and Freeman Street. Viewers can bring chairs to set up along the parade route to enjoy float entries.
Duncanville Independence Day Celebration (July 4, 2024)
The community festival, full of family-friendly fun, usually takes place on July 4th in Armstrong Park. It features excellent music, delicious food, and activities for kids and adults of all ages. Inflatables, bounce houses, carnival games—what more could you ask for? A multitude of food vendors will set up their stands, offering such mouthwatering classics as BBQ, corn, and cotton candy.
The celebration begins at 1 pm, and the festivities will continue until after the spectacular fireworks show, which normally takes place at 9:30 pm. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free, but prior registration is required for entry.
Plano Patriotic Concert (July 3, 2024)
If you still have it in you to continue celebrating this glorious patriotic holiday, consider traveling 32 miles (51 km) northeast of Duncanville to a bustling city of Plano. For some traditional and ceremonial ways to pass the time, consider attending the Plano Community Band Patriotic concert held in Haggard Park. The performance is completely free and open to the public.
Plano Community Band is a volunteer organization, which hosts annual events all over the county. The concert, packed with patriotic compositions, is meant as a tribute and homage to the country's fight for freedom and Independence. This magnificent event begins at 7 pm.
Plano's All American 4th (July 4, 2024)
Plano's 4th of July festivities can rival Duncanville's. Their annual All American 4th is held at Oak Point Park at the Special Events Field and spans from 6 to 10 pm. Stop by to participate in family-friendly games and entertainment and listen to local performers setting the stage on fire.
No celebration continues without good food and drinks—Plano's food merchants offer an array of treats both for sweet-toothed visitors and meat lovers. The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 pm, so consider grabbing a blanket to witness this majestic spectacle. Admission to the event is free.
