Once a year, the bluebonnet craze takes over Northern Texas. And the epicenter of it is in Ennis, the home of the "Official Texas Bluebonnet Trail" and the "Official Bluebonnet City of Texas." Located just 35 mi (56 km) south of Dallas, Ennis receives up to 100,000 visitors every April. People flock to wander along 40 miles (64 km) of wildflower trails and make stunning selfies with the sea of blue at the backdrop.
Ennis Bluebonnet Festival is the annual celebration of the town's favorite flower that promises even more fun activities. Nature walks are complemented with live music concerts, arts and crafts fair, food vendors, and wine tastings. Kid's activities and entertainment are also available. The festival takes place during one April weekend on the streets of Downtown Ennis. From country music to disco, there's something for every taste. Not to mention lots of bluebonnet-themed souvenirs and an opportunity to try some of the best Texas wines.
