York Food Festival was meant to celebrate local food and drink. The event lasts for ten days at the end of September and is a not-for-profit organization, which means that any money made from ticket sales goes back into the festival, making it better year after year.
Schedule
The festival market will be open from 10 am to 5 pm, offering a wide range of unique products. Demonstrations will take place from 12 pm to 5 pm, showcasing various skills and techniques. Festival Bars will operate from 11 am to 9 pm, with the last day closing at 5 pm, providing visitors with a selection of beverages throughout the event.

The festival invites traders to participate by showcasing unique products, which are essential for their involvement. It serves as a vibrant hub for free markets and demonstrations, offering a variety of events at different price points. Highlights include themed dinners, wine tastings, and Festival Bars. The Taste Trails offer a self-guided walking tour around York, allowing visitors to sample some of the best local cuisine by visiting various delis, restaurants, and suppliers.
Families can enjoy the Cookie Tour, an interactive activity designed for children. The Food Factory features a series of free cookery workshops that provide opportunities to learn new culinary skills and discover how food is made. Additionally, Fringe events are open to all York businesses, enabling them to showcase their food and drink offerings and actively participate in the festival.
Tickets & Location
The festival offers free entry to the markets and demonstrations, with some ticketed events available. It takes place in the heart of the city center, specifically on Parliament Street and St. Sampson's Square. Events such as the Food Factory, wine tastings, dinners, and trails span the entire city, attracting over 440,000 visitors each year.
