Madeira enjoys warm weather during the whole year. However, winter is considered to be a wet season with some rainfall, especially in January — February, foggy, windy, and cloudy conditions. Water temperature could drop below 19°C. So if you are looking for a perfect beach vacation it's the best to choose summer season.
Most beaches on Madeira are rocky or large pebble. However, in some areas artificial beaches made of imported sand are available. The best sand beach is in Porto Santo, a small island off the coast of Madeira.
