A thick Dutch version of split pea soup is particularly good during winter

Pea soup may not sound too extravagant and unique since there are many countries that cook it during wintertime. However, Dutch version is so much better in different aspects! First of all, it is thicker. Secondly, it typically contains pork and carrots. Finally, it has smoked sausage in it! What an awesome combination, isn't it?
