Best season to travel to Iceland

Slátur

A specific and unusual Icelandic dish, but most certainly worth trying

Best time: September–October

Something that many tourists probably have never tried. It is a dish that doesn’t sound so delicious for everyone, but it is a specialty in Iceland. Slatur is made of blood and liver, it is actually a pudding.

This dish is prepared in the autumn, during the slaughter season. For those who are brave enough to try this, there are two kinds — one is made of blood and another one of minced liver. Like cherry on top, it is sewed into sheep stomach. Funny pudding, but still a pudding, and without the cherry.
