Classic Fighters Omaka Featured in
Classic Fighters is a popular air show taking place in Blenheim, New Zealand. The biennial event is held at Omaka Airfield in odd-numbered years during Easter weekend. Every edition of Classic Fighters has a different theme, like Aviation and the Movies or World War II. Classic Fighters' specialty is re-enactments on the ground and in the air with historical artillery, tanks, and aircraft. For example, in 2011, the show featured the launch of a life-sized V-2 rocket replica.
Held since 2001, Omaka Classic Fighters is held against the beautiful backdrop of Marlborough and the Wither Hills wineries. The airshow also features award-winning Marlborough wine tastings as well as food, music, and plenty of entertainment. The day ends with a spectacular fireworks display.
Classic Fighters showcases WW I aircraft such as Albatros, Avro 504k, Fokker D.VII, Halberstadt D.III, and Nieuport 11, as well as WWII aircraft: Messerschmitt Bf 108, P-51 Mustang, Yakovlev Yak-3, and much more. Enjoy a family-friendly fun weekend of amazing flying machines as well as classic cars, military vehicles, and re-enactments by the Military Reenactment Society of New Zealand and other groups!
