The Bondi Icebergs Pool appears to emerge out of a dream. It is the most photographed ocean pool in the world and is located at Sydney’s most popular beach. You'll see it when you walk north along Bondi's coast. With a rich history going back to 1929, the pool is home to the legendary winter swimming club, drawing in retired professional athletes, swimming enthusiasts, tourists, and even non-swimmers, all thanks to its beautiful landscape and unique rock pool.

When to Visit Bondi Beach Icebergs Pool

The pool is open to the public year-round from 6 am until 6:30 pm from Monday through Friday, with the exception of Thursdays, when the area closes down on Thursdays for cleaning but usually reopens at 10 am. On Saturdays and Sundays, Bondi Icebergs Pool operates from 6:30 am until 6:30 pm. The iconic swimming club is open from 11 am until 10 pm from Monday through Saturday and from 11 am until 8 pm on Sunday.

Entry Price & Amenities

Admission for regular visitors to the pool costs around $10 for adults and $6-7 for children. Lockers are available for rent for about $5, while towels can also be purchased or rented at the cost of around $4-5. Changing rooms and toilets are available on-site. There is a cafe where you can enjoy beautiful vistas of the ocean waves hitting the rock walls of the pool.

Swimming Club

For 100 years, the baths have been considered a landmark in Bondi. Bondi Icebergs is the oldest winter swimming club in Australia, established in 1929. The organization even has a small museum on the first floor. To join the historic Bondi Icebergs Swimming Club, you must be recommended by a current club member and have your application seconded by another member of the swimming club.

As the only licensed winter swimming club in the world, Bondi Icebergs also requires its future members to go through the induction process, during which you need to attend 1.5-hour induction sessions with a swimming trial. Each year, the club has designated induction dates, which are announced in early March.

The members regularly swim on Sundays from May through September. Keep in mind that if you become a member of this club, you must compete on three Sundays out of four for the next five years before officially becoming an Iceberg. If you fail to meet this requirement, you either need to send an explanation letter, transition to a Social membership of the club, or be completely removed from the club. Swimming Membership costs $250 until 31.03.25.

What Is Bondi Icebergs Pool

Icebergs Pool is a 164-foot (50 m) saltwater bath, which attracts swimmers, sunbathers, and spectators from all over the world. The reason for its popularity is that you can feel huge waves crashing onto you as you come up for air. The pool is not heated, with water flowing in from the ocean. This mesmerizing place also lives up to its name and boasts chilly temperatures, with the highest hovering around 22-25°C (72 to 77°F) during the summer. During winter, the water temperature can drop as low as 16°C (61°F),
