Ski Season
The ski season in the Wasatch Mountains typically runs from late November to mid-April, with Snowbird extending its season into late May and sometimes even June. The best snow conditions are usually found in February. For an exceptional heli-skiing adventure, visit from late November to mid-April, when Utah's ski resorts offer pristine backcountry powder. February is considered the peak time for ideal snow conditions.
Heliski Destinations

Snowbird Heliport
Snowbird Heliport is located at Snowbird Ski Resort, providing access for heli-skiing operations in the Wasatch Mountains. Snowbird Ski Resort boasts Utah’s longest ski season, often extending to June, and receives over 500 inches of snow annually. Its heliport offers access to stunning backcountry terrain, making it ideal for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Guests can explore over 100,000 acres of terrain, with equipment provided and safety gear included. The heli-skiing experience runs from 8 am to 2-4 pm and includes breakfast, snacks, lunch, and six helicopter runs.
Powderbird
Powderbird uses the Snowbird Heliport as one of its departure points for its heli-skiing trips. Located in the heart of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains, Powderbird is the only outfitter in Utah authorized to helicopter ski on U.S. Forest Service land. Covering the largest permitted area in Utah, which is larger than all of the state’s ski resorts combined, Powderbird offers over 500 inches of world-renowned Utah powder each winter. The terrain features alpine bowls, tight chutes, and wide open glades, attracting powder enthusiasts from around the globe.
Pricing
Pricing for Powderbird's heli-skiing experience varies depending on the type of trip. For an individual day, the cost ranges from $1,600 to $2,080. If you book for two or more days, the price is between $5,700 and $10,000. For a private experience, the cost is $15,000 to $20,000 per day.
