Vietnam is one of the main producers of this relative of jackfruit. With a slightly long shape and tough skin, reminding of durian, this fruit turns yellowish when ripens. It contains edible seeds and has a very soft and sweet, slimy and fibrous flesh. Often used in cooking, the fruit is a definite must try!
Chempedak season runs from June to August.
