During one month in late autumn, the fields of northern Vietnam are covered with buckwheat bloom. Interestingly, buckwheat had been the main crop for nearby communities during financial difficulties, and though now it is grown in fewer quantities, it has still remained an important produce to promote. Moreover, during recent years, buckwheat bloom has become a good touristic reason to travel to the north of Vietnam in autumn. The beauty of the flowers cannot be exaggerated, especially in Ha Giang, fields of which boast the fastest bloom in the region, and allegedly has the brightest bloom of all.
