Fond du Lac, which is translated from French as the "bottom of the lake" is a city in Wisconsin named due to its location at the south end of Lake Winnebago. Thanks to excellent recreation scene, Fond du Lac is a popular 4th of July destination. In addition to hiking and water sports, the city usually marks America's independence with the Americana Concert, fireworks, and baseball games. The nearby city of Oshkosh celebrates 4th of July more traditionally with a parade and a pyrotechnic display in the park.

What better encapsulates the spirit of Independence Day than a riveting baseball match? Dock Spiders, a well-loved team born and raised in Fond du Lac, will engage in a thrilling game against Green Bay Rockers at Capital Credit Union Park. As part of Military Appreciation Night before the 4th of July, active and retired soldiers will be given free tickets for the game.

Music Under the Stars

During the summer, the city of Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Area Musicians Association hold weekly Monday concerts to bring the community together under the gorgeous star canopy. The musicians are known for their signature Americana and alternative country music. The show spans from 7 pm to 8:30 pm and is completely free to attend. If you'd like a snack, the food stands start operating at 6:15 pm.

Symphonic Band Americana Concert

Americana Concert in the historic Bandstand in Lakeside Park features classic music by the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band as well as patriotic favorites, marches, and music by American composers. The concert is followed by an amazing fireworks display at dusk, which usually takes place on the lakefront. The event begins at 7:30 pm and lasts until 9:30 pm, closing after the fireworks spectacular.

Oshkosh 4th of July Parade

If you're up for some travel and would like to explore the nearby locales, consider choosing Oshkosh as your next destination. Located 20 miles up north from Fond du Lac, Oshkosh invites both residents and guests of the city to their annual 4th of July parade. With star-spangled flags, hues of red, white and blue and patriotic floats, the streets of Downtown Oshkosh turn into a joyous celebration.

The route usually starts at the crossroads of Otter Street and N Main Street and continues until E Irving Avenue. The participants reach the finish line at Hazel Street. The procession is scheduled at 9 am and lasts approximately one hour.

Oshkosh 4th of July Fireworks at Menominee Park

Oshkosh Independence Day celebration continues with the Festival Foods Foodtruck Show, which usually lasts from 3 pm to 10 pm and takes place in Menominee Park. Various food trucks are set up throughout the park, so you can try out different foods while enjoying the sights. As a bonus, you'll be able to rent boats and kayaks to set off on an adventure in Lake Winnebago. The culmination of the day, the fireworks spectacle, begins at 9:45 pm.

Other 4th of July activities in Fond du Lac include flower displays, boating, picnics, and hiking in Lakeside Park, which occupies more than 400 acres (1.6 sq. km) on the south end of Lake Winnebago.
