Canowindra Balloon Festival 2024

Rejoice in this amazing balloon show, the Cabonne Community Glow, and the night markets with local crafts & food

Dates: April 20–28, 2024

The Canowindra Balloon Festival is an international balloon challenge, organized by Canowindra Challenge Incorporated (CCI). Thanks to wide-open areas, rolling hills, and mild winds, Canowindra is called the “Balloon Capital of Australia.” So, let's get into the details!

The balloon festival in Canowindra attracts over 5,000 visitors every year, featuring balloon launches early in the morning and a few hours before sunset. The event’s culmination is the Cabonne Community Glow, when the balloons light up in sync with music. You'll witness 15 hot-air balloons light up like huge lightbulbs 65 ft (20 m) above the ground. Besides the balloons, you can enjoy the night markets with local crafts, food, and different nick-nacks. Plus, Canowindra is also known as the town of historic pubs, wineries, and antiques, so be sure to stroll around it.

The Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is held annually in April, but the dates may shift. Thus, we recommend you check the official website in the External Resources section to stay informed. As for tickets, you don’t need to pay to watch the balloons; however, the Cabonne Community Glow is chargeable ($13 for adults and $3 for children).
