Beach Season in Boston 2025

The city of Boston offers a range of swimmable beaches with only one drawback—chilly water. Castle Island is considered the best option on the southern waterfront. ​The name Pleasure Bay speaks for itself. The area boasts a fishing pier, a star-shaped fort which is interesting to explore, and Boston Logan Airport is just across the harbour which means one may caress in the sun and leisurely observe planes constantly taking off and landing. Apart from Boston itself, New England boasts a range of scenic beaches located just an hour drive from the city. Crane Beach in Ipswich, for instance, is listed among top 10 beach destinations in the USA. Gloucester's Good Harbor Beach is famous for its unique waterway leading to Salt Island and during the low tide one may walk across the sea to the very island. Other famous beaches include Revere Beach also known as America's first public bea​ch, and Wollaston Beach in Quincy. The season stretches from mid-May through mid-September.
