The global redhead movement is growing! Since 2014 the annual Redhead Days in Chicago became the first affiliate of the famous festival taking place in the Netherlands. Supported by Chicago's large Irish community, it has attracted more than 3,500 redheads from all over the United States, making it the largest redhead gathering in the country.
Redhead Days Chicago is an excellent opportunity to take amazing pictures with thousands of redhaired people dressed in...well, red! There is also the official Redhead Days aerial group photo of the participants, a parade, contests, lectures, and fun activities for people of all ages.
The Redhead Days movement was initiated unexpectedly when a Dutch painter Bart Rouwenhorst decided to make 15 portraits of redheads in the town of Asten. He put an ad in a paper to find models, and 150 volunteers responded. Rouwenhorst gathered the whole colourful group for a photo shoot, and that's how the first Redhead Day was organized.
