Battle of Flowers Featured in
Each year, the Battle of Flowers brings Valencia's July Fair to a close. It's a curious fight in which women dressed in traditional costumes protect themselves with rackets from thousands of brightly coloured carnations thrown at them by the public. They parade in carriages decorated by Fallas artists loaded with thousands of flowers and, after the battle, Paseo de la Alameda lies covered in a long blanket of flowers which scent can be smelt throughout the city.
