If you want to try a slightly uncommon Thanksgiving dish, head to the Chicago area. Since 1983, the Thanksgiving city of Huntley, Illinois, has been hosting its famous annual Turkey Testicle Festival. During the event, chefs deep-fry more than 1,200 pounds (550 kg) of turkey testicles and serve them to the public at several locations in the Parkside Pub. The food and music day runs from 11 am to midnight and supports multiple charities.
About 5,000 people, attracted by this peculiar delicacy, come from all over the US. Those who have tried turkey testicles say the dish has the consistency of mushrooms and flavor of liver.
Turkey Testicle Festival is usually held on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The crowds can enjoy plenty of yummy food and live music. In addition to local bands, the public is offered beer and soda for the Designated Drivers. This is a 21+, adults-only event.
