Mammee apple is considered to be an aphrodisiac. Moreover, this orange or pink fruit is rather soft and can be used in salads or marmalades, though it can be difficult to digest. In Costa Rica, it is mostly grown in Carazo plateau where its trees are sheltering the farms from winds.
