Even though mid-July is known as the peak of beach season in Croatia, it's nice to take a break from the sun and the sea and discover old Zagreb. For just ten days visitors can get behind usually closed doors and fences to see the real life of locals. The idea is kind of similar to the Open House London and the European Heritage Days, but with a warmer homey atmosphere. It is about enjoying yourself and having fun in the summertime. This event is called Dvorišta (Courtyards), and is guided by the 'Every courtyard has its own story' motto. Participating Upper Town courtyards offer live music, drinks, and food.
