Laos cuisine is known as rather different from other Southeast Asian cuisines as some dishes are very light and others can be quite spicy. One of the most famous dishes of Laos is Khao Poun, and it is popular not only in Asia but also in other neighbouring countries and even in the USA.
Khao Poun is a rice vermicelli soup, which is served at all weddings and even during the Boun That Luang Festival. It is a bit spicier than the usual Lao food, but it still varies depending on ingredients. The most common recipe includes rice vermicelli, vegetables, aromatic herbs, coconut milk, and meat—pork, chicken, or fish.
