St. Joseph County Grange Fair is held every September in Centreville, Michigan. One of the largest fairs in Michigan, St. Joseph County Grange Fair offers lots of entertainment, nightly Grandstand events, and plenty of fun for the whole family. The fair features live music, midway rides, huge vendor barns, a petting zoo, gardens, and animal barns. Kids can enjoy the carnival and Kiddie Land rides and games. Surely, they will also be excited to watch cow milking, sheep trimming, and other farm work. The fair boasts 4-H livestock shows every day.
Grandstand Events
St. Joseph County Grange Fair was started in 1851, and it has become one of the most popular fairs to visit in Michigan. Grandstand events are especially loved by the fairgoers due to their scale and thrilling atmosphere. The main highlights of the fair at the grandstand include several tractor pull shows, including Farm Truck Pulls, Semi Pulls, Farm Stock, Too Hot to Farm Tractor Pulls, and Modified Gas Truck tractor pulls. The ring also hosts other spectacles, such as Super Kicker Rodeo, Harness Racing, Bump N Run Demolition Derby, and Dirt Drags.
Exhibits
While grandstand shows are the stand-out spectacles of the fair, the agricultural and livestock exhibits make up the backbone of the event. Ranging from sheep, cattle, and poultry to homemade goods, there's something for everyone in the exhibition space. Miracle of Life birthing tent is a traditional display at the fair, offering attendees a chance to witness animal birth with their own eyes.
Other Attractions
Throughout the duration of the St. Joseph County Grange Fair, attendees will also be able to groove to free live concerts performed by local musicians, featuring a fair regular, the Whistle Pigs Band. The tractor parade showcases unique models of farm vehicles, while midway rides take you and your children on a thrilling journey. Dozens of vendors and food stalls are offering delicious fare. Refreshing beverages are available at the Beer Tent.
Schedule & Hours
The gates will be open from 8 am to 10 pm Sunday through Friday and from 8 am to 11 pm on Saturday. Commercial barns are open from 10 am to 10 pm Sunday through Friday and to 11 pm on Saturday.
Tickets
General admission costs $10 for adults, $5 for children between the ages of 11 and 15, and is free for children under ten. On Monday, everyone under 18 can enter for free, while on Tuesday, firefighters and other essential workers can enter for $5. On Wednesday, people over 65 years old can purchase a ticket for $5. Veterans and their spouses will enjoy $5 admission on Friday.
Fairgrounds Location
St. Joseph County Grange Fair annually takes place at the St. Joseph County Grange Fairgrounds, which are located in the village of Centreville, at Charlotte Street. Centreville is situated approximately 34 miles (55 km) south of Kalamazoo, which boasts a diverse art scene and is home to Western Michigan University.
